SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. — Johnsonville Sausage has launched two new handheld sandwiches specifically for the convenience-store market.
The sandwiches come in two varieties: Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage and Beef Hot Dog. Both are packaged in a sealed, microwavable film and feature a Johnsonville link enrobed in golden-brown bread.
The sandwiches offer a quick option for consumers seeking something more substantial for on-the-go occassions, Johnsonville said.
“Our new enrobed handheld sandwiches are a perfect option for in-store displays,” said Austin Van Treeck, product marketing manager for Johnsonville. “With quality ingredients and grab-and-go convenience, these sandwiches are ideal for busy consumers who desire a satisfying meal that can easily be enjoyed without disrupting their daily routine.”
The Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage sandwich is made with 100% naturally hardwood-smoked pork that is filled with cheddar cheese and diced jalapeno peppers. Jalapeno cheddar-flavored products have grown by 63% in menu penetration during the past three years, according to Johnsonville.
The ready-to-eat Beef Hot Dog sandwich is also naturally hardwood-smoked. As the top product on roller grills, beef hot dogs have increased by 5% in penetration during the past four years, according to Johnsonville.
Founded in 1945, Sheboygan Falls, Wis.-based Johnsonville Sausage is a national brand offering bratwurst, Italian sausage, smoked-cooked links and fresh breakfast sausage links. The privately held company distributes products in 40 countries.
